LVMH Watch Week - Zenith

I'm pissed. I thought I'd get through this winter without anyone releasing a watch I really wanted, but unfortunately, that is not to be... At least not now that Zenith has released a truly gender-neutral version of the Defy 36. Ugh, I want this...

Great looking watch and a perfect size.

Mint green is fresh, I'd like to see and try one. Center seconds works better than the 41mm small seconds at 9.

I know. Easiest way to convince myself not to do it is to convince myself that later this year, or next, it'll come out in either the super dark titanium alloy Zenith makes other pieces in (preferably with RG accents), or the same silver dial as the larger variant.

For two years, though, I've been looking at the Defy Midnight thinking "damn, why do they have to ruin a perfectly good midsize watch with all those little sparkly rock chips?" and now it seems Zenith has heard me.

Size aside, I also like the new 41mm boutique edition from a distance. Too close up and the dial looks a little too close to a LV monogram, however.

Not a fan of the new skeletons. The spoke pattern looks weird and they got rid the date wheel completely.

Yeah I want to see that 36mm in real life too. The 41mm wears far too large and thick for my wrists.

Nice watch. Reminds me of the AP 15450 blue dial.

I really like the Skyline Skeleton. 41mm, but thin case at 11.6mm.

I always thought that the seconds counter on the 41mm was one of the most clever, least useful features ever to appear on a watch. The idea that a chronograph movement (make that the chronograph movement) was converted to time-and-date-only was cool, and the fact that the 1/10 seconds counter was kept even cooler. At the same time, the small seconds at 9:00 is a bit awkward, and in practical terms, a 1/10 seconds counter as part of a non-chronograph is completely impractical and even a bit confusing.

I thought that 'feature' was one of the neat little quirks of the Skyline line. Taking it away kinda bums me out.

But the new skeleton is a looker.

Agree. Also I’d rather have the Elite 670 as it’s slimmer but I haven’t seen the thickness of this new 36mm yet, have you? I’m assuming that it’s indeed slimmer.

The 36mm is 10.3mm thick versus 11.6mm on the 41mm. They do all wear a lot bigger and thicker because the side is one block of steel from top to bottom. Very different from the Classic model which optically looked a lot thinner from the sides.

Some more photos!

Thanks for these! How'd it feel on the wrist compared to, say, a 36mm Rolex? I think this is fast turning into my favorite current non-Rolex steel watch. That was previously the GP Laureato 38 but I am thinking I like this even better.

I'm curious if the line will be expanded with additional dial colors, like silver, and/or case materials, like titanium.
