Vacheron Fiftysix

I am looking at picking up a preowned Fiftysix. I would probably trade in my Cartier Santos Dumont LE that doesn't really get much wrist time. What is everyone opinion of this VC? I know it doesn't have an in-house movement but not sure that is really an issue for me.

I had one and liked it but never really bonded with it.

I decided to upgrade to the Traditionelle Complete Calendar

I love my Fiftysix complete calendar. It was totally unexpected. I found that the watch handles a lot better than the press pictures, and the blue dial push me over. While the complete calendar has a very different movement, the case design is very similar. See my write up here:

With the market moving, pre-owned would be a better way to go. I have no regret picking it up but I could have saved myself a few grand if I just waited a little for one from the pre-owned market.

To clarify, the one I am looking at is the time only with the silver dial. It has the bracelet as well which was purchased separately. I do love the blue dial but the silver is very clean and classy.

Seems like a solid value and great alternative to a DJ41. I enjoyed Lume Shot’s review on this and the bracelet looks nice. Not sure how much you’d get your Fifty Six for but if you want something dressier, willing to go preowned, and don’t need a bracelet, you could probably find a Traditionelle or ALS Saxonia Thin for not too much more.

Like it, don't love it. No question this is a PO type of purchase for me.

Rather than the time/date on bracelet I’d go for the day-date. More watch for your money.

One of those better in the flesh watches for me…the silver dial is awesome. You inspired me to strap it on today.

Thank you for this video. There aren't many reviews on this watch on the bracelet

I saw one at a VC Boutique, although not on bracelet. My impressions, similar to the video review. Saw the silver dial on the day date and was impressed but on the standard fifty six with its varied finish I couldn't offer an in person opinion either way. From pics I like it and do enjoy a monochrome style, even better with the (big bonus) included steel bracelet you mentioned. Cool watch.

Actually, checking the web site the ring finish is similar so would recommend it. On the day date it's less noticeable with the other dial features.

I prefer the Santos in this situation, by a wide margin.
