Are you a Spring Drive Fan - 1st Gen not by GS but Seiko
All I am showing you a 1 out of 200 pieces ever made model SNR011 marketed not by Grand Seiko but by Seiko. Made nearly 20 years ago (2006), it contains the 1st generation 5R67 spring drive movement which makes this 3 hand piece about 12 mm in thickness. Despite of this, it is still a very “wearable” watch, given today’s modern Grand Seiko designs. It features a moonphase with a glassy metal finished moon over what appears to be black mother of pearl backdrop. The power reserve indicators goes up to 72h. Love to see other pieces from this line. Enjoy.

Nice. I love the smooth sweep of the Spring Drive.
The first Spring Drive was indeed a Seiko: SBWA001 from 1999. |

Thank you, OP. I learn each time here at RF. I did hear there were some early release prototypes. Now reading about this, there were 1-2 GS SD released in Japan before they released in 2005 the 5R67-based watches in the US. I have not found a very comprehensive history account of SD watches that included Japan and Intl releases.
