Help with a 16710 for my bday!
Hi all,
I am looking at replacing my 16710 for my birthday. What are your thoughts on this? I know some of you are quite eagle eyes and look at things quite differently especially things that I may have overlooked and I always value the forum members opinions. Would be grateful if you could let me know what your thoughts are on this one + comes with Box and papers from a dealer. Attachment 1354303 Sent from my SM-F936B using Tapatalk |

Looks ok to me. It’s seen a polish in the past, but they nearly all have. I recently acquired a lug holes/ Sel model and it’s great (my 3rd time with this).
If I was buying from a dealer, I’d try to find out that it wasn’t a LN if I had interest in a jubilee and other bezels. If the price is right (and these are quite high) I’d say go for it. Btw - my LN point is (as you likely know) Rolex won’t swap on those. That said, the bezel is 130 quid from Rolex now so the aftermarket ain’t that much more really. My hangtag says LN, but the case of my watch does not, which is what they apparently check. So I picked up a jubilee and Pepsi bezel last week. Good luck with your decision. How much are they looking for? |

It looks ok to me, although I’m not sure if theres a mark on the 2 O Clock lug? (Last picture).
If this is a European watch from new, there is no way to tell what bezel colour it left the factory with, this is only something that was specified on those watches sold in the US. All four of mine have been through RSC and they couldn’t tell me what bezel insert it would have had from new, so changing it from a LN to a Pepsi wouldn’t have been a problem. |

Yep it's an original LN and RSC won't change from LN > Coke> BLRO. Not a huge problem for me as I have the other bezels available. They are wanting £10,500 Thanks for your help Sent from my SM-F936B using Tapatalk |

Rolex have refused to change bezel inserts on my 16710 with a coke bezel on it as the original specification for the watch was an LN. A real shame but they do know what the original specification is/was. Also, if you call RSC +41223022200 Geneva and ask very nicely they will tell you what your watch was born as. If you ask extremely nicely at RSC London they will tell you too. When I was in the States they were extremely unhelpful :( Sent from my SM-F936B using Tapatalk |

16710s are so great.
Tougher to find good ones. They will go down as one of the best models ever, due to their wearability and versatility. Why are you replacing the ones you have? Apologies if I misunderstood. |

I don’t tend to wade in that much on these issues.
As the previous person said it’s quite hard to find mint ones but in this case I think there are plenty of other options in better shape than this. It’s decent, it looks pretty much as it should and I’m sure many people would be happy with it. But for me it is priced to reflect its condition. It’s pretty hard to appraise a screenshot of a photo but for me the lugs just look overworked, thin, lacking in taper on the inner, lost its bevelled edge at the case and soft on the bezel. Overly critical maybe but that’s just how I see it. Too hard to tell but the fairly aggressive lug brush pattern found on these seems to be more pearlescent, the result of a polished correction. This hasn’t been touched since new from 2007. Might give you an idea. Or you may think to you it looks no different. I don’t wear mine that much only as intended to travel with or when me or my business partner are on different time zones. So it hasn’t seen much use. |

Either way, you have access to the bezels so all good. The piece you are looking at is priced at the lower end, but that wouldn’t necessarily bother me if I intended to wear it lots. There’s plenty of choice out there though. |

Pass it, its has been polished badly. You can easily find a better one.
