AD Discount

I have just asked my prefered AD if they had a Midsize Datejust (178240) in stock that I want to buy for my wife (this will stop the nagging as she is desperate for a Rolex). They said they didnt but would get me one with the dial that I require. I asked about their best price and after a bit of negotiation I managed to get a 28.4% discount

This was after shopping around at a couple of other AD's who said that they never discount steel watches...I wasn't going to buy off them but I wanted my wife to decide for herself what she wanted!

I have purchased a few watches off my prefered AD.....and they always get me any watch I seem to want (Including 3 Daytonas when they were hard to find)....it just goes to show that if you work on a relationship with a good AD it has its benefits.......I got this advice off this forum when I first started buying Rolex's.....(I made friends with the manager and took her in some chocolates and flowers when she got me the watches!)

Wow, 28% discount. Why is that UK dealers seem to discount a lot more than US? In US, I think the reasonable maximum you are able to get on Rolex is 20% and that's only on more expensive gold models.

That's a highly unusual discount in my experience, but a real catch, certainly. Normally on steel ones, you'd get somewhere between 5 and 10%, up to 15% on TT and up to 25% on precious metal models.

Wouldn't want to do that....as I may get them in trouble....or somebody may become a better customer than myself and get the pick of the bunch!
