Genuine Tudor 9411/0
Hi,
Saw this listing on eBay that could make a starting point for good Tudor Submariner project (Tudor ETA 2784 can be found as well as genuine dials). But looking more closely, I was growing a bit doubtful. Does this case look genuine to you? Engravings look really similar to aftermarket cases sold by Vietnamese dealers. |

No good.
9411/0 and all early Tudor subs and Monte Carlos have the slash '/' at a 45 degree angle like this one, this is too upright. Tudor Submariner £12,321 https://chrono24.app/tudor/tudor-sub...GB&SETCURR=GBP

Found other listings where the "/" is evidently at the correct angle. Will be wary of this from now on. |

Now and then someone proposes to build a collectible vintage watch entirely from purchased parts, but they inevitably learn that it’s not cost effective, and of course the finished watch has no soul (j/k).
Unless you are already sitting on a bunch of the key parts in the form of a donor, I suspect you will be better off searching for something that is already complete.

9411/0 and ETA Tudor submariners are some of the most franken watch going on right now. Out of the many complete watches listed for sale on this reference, a good portion may have started as projects rather than being born in Rolex/Tudor factory. Therefore, one could ponder this and choose to be the one to build it from parts rather than buying from someone else who probably did it himself. |

Ohhhh, and those horrible crown guards....
Sometimes good watches are broken up to rejuvenate Great Watches, this allows for projects to be taken, which can be very rewarding in the hunt, just like for a complete piece. One of these days I plan to put together a Tudor project for night fishing that is solid as hell, lumed like a torch, and swap the date complication for a tide complication.
