Inner lug scratch removal - RSC?

Hi boys and girls,

Today i have bought my best friends 116610ln, it's a 2015 model.

The watch is in overall good condition, some minor scratches in the polished sections. It also got some minor scratches on the inside of the lugs from poor strap changing (wasn't my friend. Scratches were already there when he bought it in 2017 used ).

My question, can rsc get rid of those scratches as well? I mean it's a more unusual location for scratches.

Ill post some pics later

It’s actually quite a common place for scratches. Of course they can be removed, but there is risk to that also. Without seeing the pics my inclination is to advise you let it ride.

If the scratches are shallow like a mild scrape with a strap changing tool, a bit of expert polishing will do the trick.

Tape the lugs prior to any future strap changes whether at home or by an AD. Can't trust anybody really.

Inner lug scratch removal - RSC?

Generally speaking, polishing a Rolex is not approved upon. This is largely because polishing can reduce its value over time.

I don’t polish my watches — but not through worries about their residual value, rather I enjoy the scratches they accrue as marks of the watches life.

If you would prefer to start anew, RSC will polish the watch — as will many jewellers. As others have noted, it’s important to tape off the bits you are not polishing so that they are not glanced in the polishing process.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Hey guys, thanks for your input.

I totally get what you're saying. There is a lot of "risk" involved and there is beauty in wearing a used watch with pride, but i still want to "fresh" the watch up.

2 Reasons.

1.The wear is not from me, so there is no pride in wearing the marks it already has
2. Some might say the watch doesn't look bad at all and i should leave at is; this is also the best counterargument in my opinion. Because it isn't that bad, not much has to be done to bring it to a brilliant condition again.

I will send it to the main RSC in cologne, the german forum has very, very good experience working with the service center in cologne regarding service and polishing.

I marked the scratches on the inside of the lugs red. Luckily they are very small. Again, you could say leave them as they are because they are so small, but thats the main reason i want them away, it should be an "easy" job for the rolex service center

All scratches best left to normal routine RSC service only, when watch will be polished like new.

What Peter said, it’s a very minor scratch which will be easily buffed out comes service time.

If you must sent it to the RSC, they will probably advise a full service and than it will look brand new inside and out. Sets you back short of 1K.
