I believe so, but only regarding a true 50th anniversary. Here's a link:

Can't see it happening to be honest, too many have been made, it's been too popular. The true collectors pieces are the ones people just don't buy - I reckon that the only model in the current line up that has potential to be a collectors piece is the Yachtmaster II.

It is a bizarre situation, it's like the original Daytonas, they barely sold at all. Speaking to my AD (who has had a Rolex contract since the 1950s, I believe), you could probably count the number of their sales on one hand. Strange how time changes taste so much

I have no idea. However; we sometimes confuse rarity and collectability.
The LV has been made is sufficent numbers that to call it a rare reference is a bit of a stretch. But....who knows what future collector's will feel it's place is. The 5513 remains a popular watch with new (and seasoned) collectors and "rarity" has never been it's strong suit. Time will tell...... |

I own one, (LV Sub) so you would think I would say yes. I say no, the 50th anniversary Sub is too common, it is not rare. Rolex makes so many of them (modern watches) I think it is an artificial rareness created by Rolex. This theory is tested on the gray market. Call a gray dealer and see what he/she will buy an LV Sub for (if they are buying at all) if an LV Sub is truly a rare watch, a gray dealer would buy at any time. You will find $2,500 to $3,000 is what they will offer you for a used LV Sub or BNIB.
Today even the prized Rolex Daytona is common. All three of my familiar ADS have said there is no waiting list as they go down their “lists” of people who have said they want a Daytona and the song is always the same “Sorry no money” or “I don’t dare buy into days market.” MSRP is the only price considered. So the “rare Daytona of 1.5 years ago which many paid over $3,000 over MSRP for is today worth MSRP and still Rolex can’t sell them all artificial Rolex rareness. Not a shock everyone hear knows this. Rolex keeps jacking up the prices the common excuses as told by AD in the past “you hold on to the watch and over time it will become worth more due to the price increases.“ If this were true explain(100% all of the time) explain today’s market. Right now at this time most gray dealers, pawn shops, or the few dealers who will take an old Rolex in trade toward a new Rolex are not buying. Your $6,800 Sub today right now is worth ½ of what you paid. So today right now an LV Sub is not rare most will not even consider buying one. I feel if the LV Sub will ever be worth something will be when everyone here on this forum is dead and gone maybe. And this will be due to the fact many of the watches will have been lost, destroyed, unaccounted for, or beyond a point of function or value. IMHO

IMHO I would doubt if the LV will become what I would call a real colectors watch.Lets be honest here the only difference is maxi dial green insert between normal sub.And if price did go up sure would be a lot of plain subs on market made up to be/look like LVs.
