Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 vs Rolex Oyster Explorer 36?
Hi guys,
I went up to local Rolex shop. Wanted to buy those new Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 with green dial. But they are out of stock now and they proposed me to buy black Rolex Oyster Explorer 36 which $2,000 more expensive than OP. Is that a good deal? Afaik Explorer is the same level as OP but less in demand since everyone wants to get those new OP in different colours. Is Rolex Explorer 36 too sportish? Or better wait for Rolex OP 36 which i think holds their value better than Explorer |

Buy the one you want to wear Andy even if you have to wait a bit longer?

I'd say the Exp II is in more demand due to the mercedes hands and better lume than most OPs. It also has a safety clasp on the bracelet. Although they are both old models in the line, the OP although first used for the Everest climb had a special movement which was the basis for the introduction of the Exp. From a historical perspective, the Exp is more special. That said, both are great watches. If wanting a green dial than the Exp doesn't necessarily fit the bill however. The wait time for a green dial OP may be long to never however.

I agree that you should only buy the watch you want. Would you really want to see what someone else has pressured you into buying every time you look at your wrist?
And to answer your question from the other thread: I think black, silver, and dark blue are the most versatile colors. |

I think both are good watches, but besides the coloured dial, the Explorer has a better bracelet and feels sturdier on the wrist compared to the OP. The OP is a fun watch, while the Explorer is a proper daily watch.
