Yeah! Exactly my feelings regarding the rivets. I wrote in another thread that the black BB58 is more a reminiscence to its ancestor, while the BB54 is more like a only slightly modernised return of the historic one.

Radium is what they used for lume. Hands would have been some coated metal alloy (maybe brass.) Brass was also used for the bezel (coated) and dial. Real gilt dials aren't printed gold, but, rather, show the brass dial underneath in relief, so that's a big difference between the originals and the BB 54.
