Worth getting serviced or not?
1967 Datejust, keeps very good time. Haven't got a clue when it was last serviced if ever. Obviously repainted dial.

.
If it is keeping good time and serving its purpose, why service. Why do you feel if may never had a service? Get a picture of the caseback to see if there are any markings.. You could take to a watchmaker to check the timing and take it from there.. |

I have one that has been unserviced for 42 years - and tbh I'm much more worried about my watchmaker damaging the valuable dial edge (eg it sticking to rehaut when it's dropped out like a 5512 MTRS first did about a decade ago, when the 30 sec marker got chipped off.........Grrr!!!), than any lowish cost calibre wear one might encounter ! So it's really just a risk mitigation/conserving value exercise ;-) Run it till it stops then service it..doesn't matter if it's a humble 1601/1603 or a 1680 Red..the principle is the same I suspect most here will disagree with me - which is fine of course , but a pal of mine says he's saved about a Manual Paul Newman in the last 10 years by not servicing his pieces...that somewhat made me look up from my Pizza !!

Can you run it on a TimeGrapher to get a better look?
