Safe to Purchase Online?

Hey everyone, new member here. Long time viewer.

With counterfeits being so good these days and professionals having a hard time telling the difference between real and fake, what's the consensus on purchasing a Rolex on sites like Chrono24 and/or eBay?

How can they accurately ensure the authenticity of the watch?

I suppose having box and papers helps reduce fakes.

Curious what everyones experience has been like purchasing online.

No, professionals do not have a hard time telling the difference.

There are con men and scams all over the Internet, so don't trust the site, become trusting of from whom you are buying.

No, box and papers do not authenticate anything; you also have to verify those items, which are easier to fake than the watch.

I think over my six years lurking here I finally learned what everyone preaches. BUY THE SELLER. I’ve never used chrono 24 platform, but I’m not willing to gamble on this big of purchase.

I will use eBay but only on official channels of already established dealers. I just made a purchase with WatchBox through their ebay store I can’t comment on the experience yet but after reading about others I felt safe buying through them and having eBay authentication as an overkill back up.

I don’t possess the expertise necessary to authenticate a watch so I’ll never get the great deals that dealers do - and why should I? For people like OCRolexGuy, DSW and the other trusted sellers they’ve invested loads of time building their knowledge, experience and reputation.

In short trusted or established sellers is the only way I would feel comfortable to buy!
