Is this a Panda Dial

Is this a Panda dial. Even though it’s missing the red Daytona font.

I was thrown off by the missing red Daytona font, the lack of a Bakelite bezel and the smooth pushers

My thing is if you look it has the push down pushers and not the screw down ones. I don’t know why it would have an Oyster Dial. Oyster was added on the screw down pushers and not available with push down unless this of course is a transitional piece as they were in that process around the time these were made.

You will see several references in the link and video…
https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/un...newman-daytona
Whether or not the one you posted is legitimate is a different story though.
Would need to look at a lot to validate if any of it is authentic since there are tons of fakes/fake parts.
But since your original question was “is this a panda dial?”
The answer to that would be yes…

I was also thinking this could be a service dial, but I doubt it. Notice the spread of the

T SWISS T

Also notice the radium or tritium at the 12 o’clock

After extensive investigating i have deemed it fake. For obvious reasons I am not going to share what exactly was the giveaway(s) As one knows it all comes down to the dial in these particular watches when discussing Paul Newmans. I am very appreciative to all the information that is out there that has helped me come to my conclusion.

Tell us what jumped out at you. I think helping honest, and novice buyers know how to spot a fake far outweighs the off off off off off off chance that there might be some nefarious Paul Newman faker on here looking for tips.

I would really love to get into the details but don’t have time to sit here and break it all down. The left facing “H” serif cosmograph. The wide belly shark fin 5 on the seconds track is a set in appearance. Placement of t Swiss t is off as well. There is a lot more I could go in for. Also push pins, should have screw down pins on an oyster dial.

Believe me I wanted it to be real. I thought it was. I did countless hours of research on the dial(s). It is my opinion it is fake.

Perhaps this will help with assessing the one you are asking about.
No need to talk details as it looks pretty obvious IMO.

Can you provide more photos of this watch inside and out, model & serial info?
As you know one pic is hardly enough to say much other than there are inconsistencies and questions.
If any of the parts are in fact authentic they obviously would be valuable.
And an authentic complete watch is the value of a house.
