Collection advice, consolidation or keep adding

Hi TRF,

I’m wanting some advice on my current collection. I have:

Rolex BLNR oyster
Rolex DaytonaC white dial
Rolex DD40 YG black motif dial
AP Royal Oak 15450 steel blue dial
Reverso ultra thin GMT
Tudor BB58
Omega Seamaster 36mm

I am hoping to pick up my first patek in the next year, a 5205G blue dial.

I feel now my collection is getting too big. I think I’ll be selling my Tudor and Omega. I’m not sure from here however where to go. I think I want to consolidate and add more high horology pieces.

A Lange 1815 chronograph and 3940 are both watches I want to add. Any advice on your opinions or thoughts on what to add or sell next.

If you are going to sell two then those are the two to sell however a while a Tudor and Omega in the collection is a solid play maybe not those two.

I would get rid of the JLC as it overlaps with your Rolex GMT-Master….you can keep both the BB and the Seamaster or at most, get rid of one of them

I would add a dress watch, like PP Calatrava/VC Traditionelle/ALS Lange 1….and a perpetual calendar from PP/VC/ALS as well

Hope this helps!

Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner(116610LV), 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(311.30.42.30.01.006), 3) Rolex GMT-Master II(126710BLNR), 4) Breitling B01 Navitimer 43(AB0138211B1A1)

Ideally, keep one from each brand and expand likewise, within reaon. Rest must go. Otherwise, it becomes a constant acquisition frenzy. To me, at least. YMMV.

The JLC is his only strap dressy watch. IMO it rounds out this collection nicely.

I wouldn't be into selling right now. Wait for them to acquire more value.

I think your collection is excellent and really diverse. I’d only be considering selling of money is the main factor. The size of your collection is an entirely personal and financial decision. It’s def not too “large” but also, you have a lot of amazing pieces so selling a few wouldn’t leave you with nothing. My personal opinion when it comes to my collection is that I only keep what I love and I never sell what I love. If I want to add another and I only have “love” pieces, I wait until I can buy outright without selling.

I would keep:

Rolex BLNR oyster
Rolex DaytonaC white dial
Rolex DD40 YG black motif dial
AP Royal Oak 15450 steel blue dial

I would sell:

Reverso ultra thin GMT
Tudor BB58
Omega Seamaster 36mm

Then I would add whatever I had my eyes on. I wouldn’t further consolidate the four I listed as keepers because there is virtually no overlap in owning them all and all are great references…unless for financial reasons of course.
