Just to add more fun to the argument, Hakeem's two rings were the two years Michael was out of the league. I think Joel has more skill and can do more on the court than Hakeem ever dreamed about.

obviously a huge what if with MJ being "retired" those 2 seasons but i believe the 95 rockets had one of the hardest roads to a championship, maybe even the hardest

1st round vs 3 seed (utah)
2nd round vs 2 seed (phoenix)
WCF vs 1 seed spurs
finals - swept shaq's 1 seed magic

way off topic now but fun discussion regardless. the level of talent and skill in today's nba is incredible so it's really tough to compare because the average bench player today is better than the average starter 30 years ago. on the topic though, very nice and obviously unnecessary gesture. i always wanted harden to win a ring and will always root for him even if i hate philly lol

Sympathy MVP. Managed to get the trophy by whining and flopping. Free throw merchant and very annoying person to anyone outside Philly. Giannis deserved it more. Even Harden deserved it more. Shame.

Joker is a liability ln Defense, Embiid is the total package and should have won 1 more before this. Too bad he can't stay healthy in the POs though

Please don’t get me wrong, but it really seems you don’t watch games at all. Those are phrases which are being repeated by all the ESPN fake journalists who watch highlights at most.

Embiid won because whole MVP race became toxic thanks to Embiid’s lobbying and whining. It was over when Kendrick Perkins pulled a race card and accused Jokic voters they are racist. In these days, people don’t want to be even falsely accused for such a thing, so opted to give it to the guy who cried for it so much.

Luckily enough, we have play off so we can judge for ourselves who is a proper MVP and who is a sympathy MVP.

That final would be a spectacle.

Cry harder… no one got on board with Perk when he made those ridiculous comments, in fact the opposite is true. The best player won the mvp, get over it

“Cry harder” advice did wonders for Embiid, but I doubt it will work for me. Thanks anyway.

Nice gesture by Harden. Embid earned the MVP but all I care about is the Knicks pushing deep into the playoffs.

100%. you could have made same argument for Michael Jordan could won it every year, same for LeBron. So at least one for every great player is correct

IMHO, the decision was made in January when Denver played Philly, Embid scored 47 points and 18 rebounds against Jokic (24 points and 8 rebounds) in a Philly win 126 to 119....

Jordan returned prior to the playoffs for the 95 playoffs. Hakeem smoked Shaq in the 95 finals. Look up videos on what Shaq says about Hakeem (he essentially says Hakeem was the only C of his generation better than him).

Also, Joel has been in the league for around 7 years in a conference with a lot of parity. He hasn’t even come close to making one final. He hasn’t had a juggernaught in the East standing in his way. He has been injured and inconsistent.

I’m a fan of Joel. My point is there isn’t an argument to be made about him being the best foreign C the NBA has seen. Hakeem arrived to the US at 18 with no basketball skills compared to Joel at 16.

Both are great players but at this early juncture, Hakeem has the more decorated resume. Joel has a good decade ahead of him to complete his resume.

Agreed! Hakeem was one of the greatest center ever, Period! When talking about the greatest big man in the game, he always seems to get lost in the conversation. His foot work is incredible. Would put these youngins to shame!

Yes, that was the moment when I thought Embiid got into leading position in a MVP race, but then he spoke with NBC one day before game in Denver, claimed that people hate him, that he likes to be an a-hole (his words), implied that Jokic shouldn’t have a year before because he was a sixth seed… Then, one day after, he chose to sit in Denver. He ran away in order not to loose that leading position. Then I checked when was the last time he played in Denver. 2023? No. 2022? No. 2021? No. 2020? No. The last time Embiid played in Denver was 2019. Embiid is a coward, manipulator and a-hole. He has all the physical necessities and all the skill needed to be one of the greats, but he will never be because his mind is of a feeble child.

I have utmost respect for every person who cheers for his team and players who are part of it, but I am not a fan of any particular NBA team. I admire certain players who should be role models for kids who adore them. Jokic is one of the best players in the world and a role model for the values I find important. Embiid is one of the best players in the world and nothing more. It’s as easy as that.

I would love to see them both in finals. If not for anything else, just for a chance to see Embiid in Denver for the first time in four years.

As for the watches, Jokic started wearing Rolex watches around this Christmas. He bought YG Yacht-Master 42mm and WG Sky-Dweller. He even spoke how he would love to have a deal with them.

Don't hate. No one likes us, and we don't give a F@#K!

I was really trying to be nice. But hate is a strong word.

Best center ever???? Selective memory. Two names, Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Now that is the best ever!

Very cool how appreciative and grateful he was - and that its his first - given that he probably earns enough for one of those in a less than a day.

Rich people giving rich people expensive gifts. Love to see it!

Doc Rivers also fired today. Interestingly, he always wears a stainless steel Sub. Always.
