Leather straps still available?

Not that long ago you could still see a Day Date or a Datejust on a leather strap within the Rolex catalogue. It seems that is no longer the case.

I presume though that Rolex will still supply replacement leather straps. If that is the case are these straps easily ordered for a new model? For example could you order a 36mm Datejust on either the Oyster or Jubilee, plus order a suitable leather strap at the same time?

I would think that if the new model isn't avalable on a particular bracelet / strap they probably wouldn't let you order one, unless it's a direct replacement.

For some time you could order other watches (say on Oyster) and then order a seperate Jubilee but I think they're stopping that now.

There's loads of good strap options on the market in any case. You can get a full custom straps now for a few hundred $ and then find a seperate Rolex buckle

The watches you're referring to had the end links incorporated into the case meaning you could add the leather straps, these watches had different model number e.g. date just was 116138 and rose gold day date was 118135

As an example look at how current oysterflex watches are made compared to bracelet alternatives.

You could order smarty endlinks (third party end links) for the watch and order a rolex leather strap (if AD plays ball and is available in lug width required)

or

order a curved end strap from everest (which in my opinion look horrible)

or

order a strap from a third party strap company but because the spring bars are so close to the case will cause the leather to rub (again looks even worse)

1st option is the only "oem" looking route unless you buy a used one for sale

The leather bracelet is pretty similar to a normal bracelet, but its deployant style versus the more universal buckle / tongue leather band styles used on older pieces.

Leather straps are often available—on Tudor’s (which, by the way, are also damn good watches)

I loved the 116139....wish they would bring it back.

I always like the strap combo on the DD. I purchased solid gold endlinks several years ago to try to copy the look.

I think the “straight” spring bar with leather strap is common amongst many of the major watch makers.

I personally like this look.

As for me, I buy my replacement leather straps from third party makers … specifically, Camille Fournet … which I know to be the OEM strap maker for several of the big name watch brands. Where Rolex sources their leather straps, I do not know.
