Ive Noticed No One Talks Prices Here

For an item that costs what a Rolex does, it's notable that no one says what they paid for their time piece here on this forum.

Is that a spoken or unspoken rule?

we're all still nursing the pricing hangover of 2020-2022 when every thread here was about watches as investments and speculative threads

I think the forum is all the better for that, FWIW. I took a break from posting here regularly because those topics became a headache. If someone wants to discuss that stuff, they can go to reddit

As mentioned above, a couple of years back there was an influx of new members and that's all they wanted to talk about. It got really annoying.

Luckily they have all moved on to whatever the next get rich quick scheme is - like moths round a light, letting us get back to normality, thankfully.

Neither. It's a written rule. See the Forum Rules sticky thread.

Welcome.

It’s a Rolex Forum. We’re all really past the price being a barrier to anything material part of our lives. Whatever it costs we pay.

Written rule and a very good one.

We come here to talk watches, not finance.

For the prices, there are the price lists on the websites of the watchmaking houses.
Our discussions go beyond the materiality of the price attributed to our passion.

Prices are listed on Rolex site, greys have their prices. If you have a price offer do your research and comps. Some Rolex aficionados don’t have a lot of cash flow but still want one, own or will eventually own.
How you pay for your timepieces is your choice.

this rule apparently meant to appease thin-skinned users who do not want to be reminded that the objects of their obsession are just plain physical goods with a price tag

to me, it would be interesting to hear what some users did pay for a certain watch and why.. but anything other than paying at MRSP (minus discount of course) at an AD is anyway considered a sacrilege and a big taboo ...

"to appease thin-skinned users"?! Wow!!!

At some point 21/22 this forum reminded me more of a "watch-trader-forum" than anything else! Good, that this times are over - for the moment!
