Hi everyone.

I was lucky enough to be entrusted recently with a 1955 Rolex Precision but I am having trouble identifying the exact model description of the watch since there are no lookup guides for model / reference numbers on the internet as far as I can see, just for serial numbers. My watch's model / reference number is N64173 as engraved into the mechanism under the dial face. I have separately identified the case, serial and movement numbers, so I know this is the model number.

Can anyone help identify the model?

Thanks!

Model number will typically be found between the lugs at the six o'clock end or on the case-back, but not the movement.

You say that you have the "case, serial..." numbers. What are those numbers, and where?

The two numbers I see on the inside of the case are 13345 above the words Dennison Made in England, and 103578 further down. My assumption was that these are the 'case number' and serial number of the watch. The movement number - 1200 - is of course on the mechanism. I believe it's the Rolex 1200 movement with 58 hours of specified operation time. There is no number at all on the case back or lugs area. My understanding is that on the vintage Rolex watches this is not where to find it, but I may be wrong. So that leaves this N64173 number about 1/2cm around from the 1200 number on the mechanism. Is that the model / ref. number?

Thank you for your help!

.
Does it look like any of the watches below? The numbers on the caseback are referred as reference numbers but usually not the case. Have you look at the case (remove the bracelet), at the top and bottom part?
