Japan trip and a new watch

I have just returned from my second trip to Japan. Absolutely awesome trip. Of course, I took my GS from last trip and bought another. The green dial watch is the SBGN007 and my latest pick up is the SBGR083. Just a couple of other Seiko related pics thrown in for good measure.

Congrats on the new GS. Nice to see the infamous Neuchatel certificate, too!

Absolutely, and in typical Japanese fashion, they didn't contextualise its history or importance, just quietly displayed it.

If anyone here has ever thought about visiting Japan and haven't, do it! It's amazing!

It just feels so appropriate. I took my GS, Aussie Pogue and a Tudor. The Tudor didn't get any wrist time at all!

Absolutely. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm already making plans to return!

Yen is getting cheaper against the dollar. Which is a good thing!

It's not as weak compared to the Aussie $, but do not believe people when they say Japan is expensive. Compared to Europe, the US and Australia it's comparable or even less expensive. Although, picking up a vacation watch certainly adds up!

Japan was expensive until a few years ago when the yen started tanking. First time I went in the 1980s it was barely affordable for backpackers like me (most were only there to teach Engliish to fund onward travel). Nowadays it's full of them.

Ah, Wako in Ginza. I bet you enjoyed shopping there. The wide boulevards and the stylish backstreets make strolling in Ginza a joy. There are some great high quality watch magazines available in Japan too and worth bringing home as a kind of souvenir.

The second photo makes me suspect he purchased in Wako in Ginza. Basically the Seiko mothership…

We traveled to Japan in 2019. One of our favorite trips and we are well travelled. Tokyo, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Hakodate, we had a great time. Highly recommended! Get a souvenir watch! Enjoy yours, OP.
