Did You Reapply Loctite?

Thanks, everyone. It will be here Wednesday. Every time I grab one of my watches, to wear, with screw links, I will apply it to the removable links, at the end, where the screw threads are, after first removing the screws, then reinserting them, after application, with a toothpick.

I’d be upset, if I lost a $300.00 Seiko…. Of course, they either have cotter pins, or pins and collars, the later of which is a huge PITA, to size.

Agreed. I didn’t lose it but it hit the ground. A strong argument for those PITA pins.

When I add/remove links on one of my modern Rolex watches, I run the target links and screws under the hot water (have an instant hot water dispenser in the kitchen so this works beautifully). The hot water breaks up the thread lock material on the screw allowing for easy addition or removal. I don't clean the screw off, leaving the material on the threads. I screw down finger tight, not needing to be too aggressive on closure. I've never had a screw work its way loose on a watch and haven't ever seen the need to add more Loctite. I, too, purchased Loctite in the past in anticipation of using it, but I never did.

That's a lot of overkill for something as simple as link addition/removal, but I like overkill when it comes to care for my watches.

Yes. I put as tiny a blob as I can manage with the tip of a toothpick onto the receiving thread of the link. When the pin is fully screwed in the excess Loctite is pushed out onto the side surface of the link where it can be easily wiped off and the surface cleaned if necessary. I've never had any trouble unscrewing any of the factory glued pins or mine, so if further fiddling with the links is required, it's no hassle.
