Does this Day-Date 118138 exist?

Hello,

I am new to all this, so I do apologise if I have misplaced this thread!

I need some help verifying if a particular actually watch exists.

It is a Day-Date 118138 black leather strap, 18k yellow gold case and a white dial. Does this particular model exist and if so how would I go about finding it?

Thank you for any help

YG/white does exist. Not sure if it ever came stock with a black strap, but the leather straps were nothing special in terms of fitting them to the watch or clasp (so find metal/dial combo you like and then just buy your preferred strap).

118138 does exist, a strap-only DD model. I think they were originally issued only with green or cognac dials and matching straps.

See the very end of this thread

You can buy any 118138 and go into a Rolex AD and order the black alligator strap (article 214-230) and there are two white dials available, stick index or romans.

It may be worth noting that, if a “white dial Day-Date on black leather strap” is what you seek, you’ll broaden your options (quite a lot!) by not limiting your search to the 118138 reference.

That reference (and its white gold counterpart 118139) are unique among DDs, in that they are strap only and won’t accept a President bracelet, while virtually all other non-quartz DDs will easily accept either a strap or a bracelet.

I’d expect it should be much easier (and less expensive) to locate and buy, e.g., a white dial 118238 without a bracelet than to buy and modify any 118138.
