I see another added OP in your future! Like me you admire their simplicity.

You are right. I like the more classic pieces: a black Sub, a SS Datejust, with stick markers, I don’t get the Daytona hype, especially the PM ones. I love the SS 36 mm Explorer, which is probably my next Rolex.

I love the green dial, so bad the market is slow lately.

Auction prices aren't real prices. Best to ignore auctions. It's a shady business.

I really love my green 41, the color is great. That being said market value will definitely affect how i view a watch. Similar to the market going crazy with the 116500 panda. As someone that never takes their watch off(i beat them up) im glad i got rid of that watch when i did because it allowed me to get a few vintage pieces i was really after.

I am hopeful that things are starting to turn around.

This was taken at the Rolex boutique in Santa Monica! It’s the 41mm. It really is a stunning green in person.. even photos don’t quite capture it. I ended passing & getting an Explorer 1. But if I were in the market for a second Rolex this would be high on the list

When these first came out, like literally in the first days of them being announced, I put my name down for a 41mm green one. I like green, it's my favorite color, and I thought the OP looked great in that color. Totally forgot about that and then fast forward I don't even know how long I got the call for one. I knew prices had gone up on them but didn't really realize how much until then. Bought it at retail of about $6k and it was a cool watch at that price but knowing what they were worth now...I just couldn't wear it. I kept it for about a month, wore it around the house some and every time I would just look at it and think to myself....this is in no way worth to me what it's current value is.

So I flipped it. And I did and do feel bad about that in some ways but also not in others. Rolex and the ADs have created this environment themselves. I've never put my name down for a watch with the intent of flipping it. But after getting the green OP for $6k and knowing it was worth more than double that...I just couldn't justify keeping it.

I'm really glad that prices are coming down on the secondary for many references, I'm actually happy my new Sub Date isn't worth thousands more than I paid for it so I don't face that same dilemma with it.
This piece was trading above retail on the day it was announced. How were you able to 'justify' the purchase in the first place?

My guess is that he bought it to flip it, to make a fast buck, but doesn’t want to admit that, because he knows how most of us feel about that.

OPs are just as hard to get as Submariners. Despite being an entry level model, mostly closed waitlists. It’s really only the hardcore collectors you see wearing them these days. Entry level models are now basically DJs in terms of availability.

Auction prices are hugely inflated. Well over 50% more than the asking prices in the secondary market. Love the green though. Best color for the OP in my opinion.

That green looks so good and the proportions are perfect on the 36mm version.

I’m currently waiting on this very watch and cannot wait to get that call. Sooner rather than later I’m hoping.

Bought a green OP41 in 2021 I believe. It was kind of a impulse buy, but the green OP has seriously become one of my most worn watches. Totally love the shade of green on the OP41. Would buy the same watch again if something happened to mine. A 100% keeper and total satisfaction.

I'm the exact opposite. The "dull" you are describing is what attracts most of us becasue. It's not a sunbursts or some sort of shiny radiant dial finish.
