You could definitely use that as a dress watch. The White dial, and the Romans dress it up. 36 mm is a perfect size for a dress watch, on a man. I always think they look better, than 41mm. I wear a 36 mm silver dial OP with the gold indices, and on me, it presents rather large. I love how it looks.

Not crazy. Every now and then I get the wild idea to scrap my 6 digit collection and trade them all out for 5 digits. I’m really a 5 digit guy.

The only thing that stops me is that I intend to give them to my kids in a decade or so. With that it’s kinda cool that the watch is the one bought new by a parent and passed down.

I honestly feel the 5 digits were a bit superior by being a bit less engineered, which in my head makes them feel a bit more rugged and tool like, which is my thoughts of what a Rolex should be.

If you are the size of Shaquille O'Neal, then yes 36mm is probably too small.

If you are a normal sized person then 36mm is a great size for almost everyone.

It all depends on your wrist size but to me it wears perfectly.

And now, the "41mm" 124060 is getting the most wrist time (as it is the newest acquistition). Just last night I put the 38mm navitimer on (a nostalgic fav) and it was light as a feather and did look on the small-ish side - and my wrist size is still 6.75 in. Amazing how tastes can evolve over time
Watches have been getting bigger a long time, look at women's watches from the '20s-'30s, they look about the size of a dime.

So subjective and personal. I tried my wife’s mint 36 DJ and it’s too small in my mind. She agrees. I have not tried it, but I suspect the 41 would be too big for a dress watch on me. I think , for me a 39 DJ would be just right.

My DJ is a 36mm and sometimes I feel like it's too small. Would have loved a 41mm, but that probably would have been too large. But I love how my TAG fits, and it's about a 40/41mm, and it's a sports watch, but I love how it fits. It's all subjective.

Men’s sizes are generally in the 34-44mm range….so no, 36mm isn’t too small and especially if it’s a dressier watch.

Obviously if you have an 8” wrist you might want to think about wearing on the larger side of the spectrum and vice versa for someone with a 6” wrist.

You don’t have to wear or like 36, but that belief is all in your head.

I have a slightly larger wrist than you and I rock 36 all the time. I’m also under 40 years old so this isn’t me romanticizing the old days.

As others have said, it's a highly personal choice and somewhat dependent on your wrist size. Also, as some others have said, 36mm works really well as a dressier watch (at least from my perspective). But these days, virtually anything goes

I believe the original Rolexes were 34 or 35 mm and even those were considered huge at the time given the average watch then was about 33mm. My first DD was 36mm several years ago. I was being fitted for the sleeve length on a jacket and the tailor asked me if I was always going to be wearing such a large watch so he could get the measurement right.

Size is whatever you are used to and like, they is no right or wrong or too big or too small. A few years back the craze was for 50 to 52mm among many brands.

Literally never imo. I have yet to see a 36mm on someone that made me think it was too small for them.

I have 7.2 inch wrists and had a 36mm DJ, 40mm DD and 41mm DJ. I have now sold the 41 DJ, and traded in the 40mm DD for a 36mm DD and now left with 2 Rolexes both 36. To me it is the ideal size personally

Haha nice! Imagine the look on that tailors face if you came in a Skydweller
