26239OR discolouration
I just noticed some discolouration on my 26239OR. This seems unusual to me. I am not aware of gold getting discoloured? I almost looks like a layer of paint has been striped away?
Has anyone else experienced this w rose gold from AP? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How long did either of you own your watches? I haven’t seen or heard of this happening, but lines far too new for that to be likely.

About 2 years. My SA took it in and said this isn’t normal. Sent it in for quality control. Will take a month to hear back.

It’s probably some sort of oxidation. Gold Royal oaks tend to oxidize when exposed to water/humidity

That sounds strange to me, I would’ve thought Gold / RG should be relatively safe from oxidation or discoloration. Curios what others’ experiences have been like, for those that have a RG AP (RO or otherwise)? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

18k Gold is an alloy, so the other metals will react with oxygen

Also curious to what the fix is? I recently saw a 15510or on display in the boutique that had mild oxidation.

I imagine polishing it solves the problem. Same idea as any other metal that reacts.

I had some discoloration on the caseback of my 26120or so I tested lightly dabbing some flitz on the spot and washing off. Seems to work like a charm. I just made sure not to apply enough pressure to disturb the brushed grain of the metal.

I meant having it polished at Clearwater, not doing so ourselves.

But I’d be more inclined to have the boutique take care of it. |

The metals in the alloy can react - particularly RG. I've read that in particular any kind of lotion, cream, perfume etc can really cause discoloration if it sits on the watch
