What is protecting the pearl on a submariner

Morning, Afternoon, Evening everyone,

I swear I could see a small sapphire protecting the pearl on the ceramic sub but now I am not so sure. The pearl on my 14060m seems to have no protection at all.

Could someone confirm this?

Thank you

The pearl is just a blob of lumen paint covered now with a sapphire dome, and on the ceramic inserts it can be replaced if ever needed, without the expensive cost of buy complete ceramic insert. On the aluminium inserts I think you can just get a pearl, but seeing aluminium inserts are quite cheap to buy from Rolex compared to the ceramic ones, best buy a new aluminium insert

Mmm, interesting. I also have a 16660. I am almost certain that this one actually has a sapphire on top of the pearl.

Lovely Sub, major congrats!

(Friendly humor) As for the Pearl... i believe there's a small, yet measurable, amount of atoms that 'protect' it. Some could be 'made' of Dark Matter.

So is this new protection an answer to a real problem or just marketing?

Alien technology, from the craft that landed on Earth near Rolex back in the 1960s. I could explain it, yet it's a bit longwinded plus string theory is involved. Suffice to say you can rest soundly knowing that in the morning life goes on.
