Grey/Black GMT “The British”

So slightly click bait title but I was very fortunately invited to a Rolex VIP event last night and with these, they typically invite a Rolex representative. This time was no different.

Was what funny/interesting as the chap commented on the nicknames of watches and how they typically won’t use them in HQ. What he did make a joke of though was how the grey/black GMT DOES have a nickname in HQ. The British”.

Why? Because when released over here in the U.K. it’s black at night and grey during the day! Pretty funny! 😁

So now you know… for once there is a semi official nickname for a professional model.

Good anecdote! It is black or grey here, that is true.

I usually can't stand nicknames, but this one amused me! (From "sunny" Britain)

Grey/Black GMT “The British”

Glad that I own 3 Rolex watches with only one reference with a nickname.
Although some nicknames I like, such as Hulk en Pepsi.

The only 2 acceptable ones. Pepsi works, well you know its red/blue, and Hulk works because (in 2010) the new 116610 with its fat lugs and crown guards stunned the watch world, it was a Hulk even in LN mode.

The rest? Root beer and Coke is good, the others, forget about it.

Nicknames are ok if you like it if you don’t like them don’t use them, and remember all the reference numbers, then you can work for an AD and get them all.
