Rolex dimple dial or reflection

I just had my watched service by a plaque service center. They did an amazing job, however I’m noticing something on the dial I didn’t notice previously. I’ve read about the “dimple” dial, and it looks like there is a glare/reflection from the hand stack. I can say I never noticed this before service, and it’s pretty obvious so I’m not sure how I wouldn’t have noticed it previously. This is an older watch with the original non-AR crystal. So I’m curious 1. Is this normal and 2. Would a new AR Crystal eliminate this type of glare? It’s hard to get a picture of because it only happens when light hits a certain angle. Or maybe the hands are not set low enough?

That’s very interesting. And those have AR crystals as well, so I guess that doesn’t eliminate it!

Are you referring to the depression around the spindle? If so, this is normal.

Where should we be looking in the photo to see what you are seeing?

I think he’s talking about this white glare behind the hand stack?

Why is that a problem?

Ask the OP, I was just saying that’s what I think what the OP was trying to say is what they’re concerned about.

It’s fine. Look hard enough and they all have the same.

Could it be that the white material is being poured onto the dial plate and then solidified/cooled? That could also explain the same kind of edges around the datw window, which is not chamfered, but "rounded"?

Not sure why you've not noticed it before but it's the same on every gloss dial where the coating will be in a liquified state during the application process. The coating thins at the edges and around the cutouts for the spindle and date opening (in the same way a water bubble on a flat surface is dome shaped) creating the effect you are seeing.

Its much more noticeable on gloss black dials and the more viscous the coating used the more pronounced it is.

Every watch I've owned with a gloss dial is the same

Thanks everyone for the info. It’s reassuring to know it’s common, so I so t stress over it.

Plaque service center is an approved Rolex service at an AD, not at RSC. You get the full Rolex service warranty card, Leather pouch, etc.

I also have a 2017 lacquer dial omega seamaster that does not have this, so I’m not convinced it it’s visible on every gloss painted dial.

Pretty sure there was an implied “Rolex” with that. Not on every watch, but every gloss dial Rolex I’ve ever seen is exactly like that, totally normal.
