Deepsea 116660. Can it be upgraded to D-Blue?
My Deepsea, a 2010 116660 model, is just going in for a service to Rolex UK.
It just occurred to me that it might be possible to have the dial changed to a D-Blue dial as fitted to the 126660 model. My questions are- - does anyone know if the 126660 dial would fit a 116660 model? - Will Rolex perform this change, obviously at an extra cost? - Would this increase or decrease the value, assuming that I will retain the original black dial and, if I ever sell it, it would be supplied with both? |

The DBlue version of the 116660 wasn't introduced until 2014.
I think Rolex will only exchange dials on watches that are period correct. Yours being a 2010 model may be an issue. Also, even if they did, I don’t think they would let you keep the original black dial as these things are usually done on an exchange basis. Best think would be to call RSC directly & ask them what the policy is. Regards future value, a DBlue is always going to have a premium over a standard black dial but if yours is an altered watch future buyers may be wary & think it is some sort of Franken watch. If you really want a DBlue, personally I would trade your black dial plus cash.

There’s no reason a DBlue dial from the same reference number (116660) wouldn’t fit … whether they will do a dial swap is another matter entirely.

Different movement, so the dial might not be able to fit.. however do check with the service centre...

As mentioned, it may not fit because the movement is different. I don't think Rolex will play this game with you anyway, simply because yours dates to 2010 and the JC came out a number of years later. |

I had not realised that there was a 116660 DBlue, so thanks for educating me. Therefore the ref to 126660 is irrelevant. I will contact the UK SC and check if it is a possibility, and if so, whether I would also receive the black dial back.
