Bent spring bars on strap change?

I was wondering: can you bent or damage your springbars when changing strap if you first put one end of the spring bar right in the hole resting the other end on the horns? Not sure how much side pressure they can handle.

When I wanted to remove my rubber strap from my expl 2, I had to remove one end first. I couldn't first let the first end "rest" beside the hole while taking the other end loose or both sides at once with the tool, because there wasn't room for the tool.

When the one end was out, I guess the rubber strap held the spring bar in place so I had to pull it out. Could the spring bar have been bent on that?

It seems fine and works. Just worried if it got "bent"/pressed when the spring bar didn't just slide out.

Does any of this even make sense?

They are design to handle that angle of entry. For strap watches that's the best way to do it with your 6767F. Just tape the lug for when the spring bar is going to be resting on it.
