I love my black model. I should point out that I am not a WIS who visits ADs every two weeks for a chat so I have no relationship with any. Five years ago I walked into the AD in Bergen, NO and there was a black EXP II sitting in the case just waiting for me. I would have taken any SS sport model with a date. The floating hands in the black 216570 are neat and unique.

Explorer II - Black or Polar?

In 2020 there was still some sense in the watch market and I was offered by RSC to add the black dial to the polar that my 21 series originally came with. Unfortunately, I didn’t do it at that time and later they introduced the 5 year rule.

Although I also own the 22 series with black dial, once my 21 series polar meets the 5yo request by RSC to change the dial, I will jump on the opportunity to swap to black and store away the white dial. That’s how much I dislike the white one.

Although… once my 22 series black dial meets the 5yo request, I will also add the white dial to it, although I will only store it in its box.

Does this sound crazy?

Here’s the 21 series

And the 22 series

Not at all. Good to have the option. I may do the same when my 22 series black dial turns five and wear it white for a while.

Does anyone know how much a dial swap costs if you already own the second dial? So basically just the labor.

It will be interesting to see the black hands agains the black dial. Somewhat stealth mode mostly seeing the lume.

Yes, that would be interesting to know. And how much is the second dial?

For these common watches, why not just sell the one on which you don’t like the dial and get the other one? Or is there some look you’re trying to achieve with a dial swap? I may be missing the point of a dial swap

Both watches are my 2 sons birth celebration so they’re here to stay. The white one (that I don’t like) I bought on the exact day of birth of my eldest son, in 2020. In that time there were the old style cards that still had the date and name on it. Basically that’s his first document, the birth certificate came a couple of days later. It was the pandemic and I wasn’t allowed in the hospital at all so decided to spend the day at my AD and orchestrate all this

Anyway, back to the present, I Was thinking to give them both options and let them choose which one they prefer.

Have you seen that BogdanS?

Had the opportunity to see both white and black in 2020, before buying. Went for the white one mainly because of the hype and I admit it. FOMO got me this time.

Ahhhhhh Great great story Great!!

I’d leave intact with intregrity as built

I got my polar the date I got my first vaccination with my young at risk daughter, and it gave me hope our ‘exploration’ would resume

I love both. IMO black better for a daily or only watch, polar if you already have other Rolex sports with similar dial (sub, SD, gmt)

This is my take as well.

Black for me - the 16570 (black) was my first Rolex back in 2008 and I still feel the polar looks too cartoonish. And I’m a contrarian, hate to follow the herd.
