I feel like even still I don’t see nearly as many 15550s as other models.

Yeah I've noticed a boatload of 15510 and 26240 41mm models being flipped here and on MD, fewer 37mms for some reason

C24 has more 15450 listings than 15550. There's many more 15500 listed vs 15510 and 26331 vs 26240. So I'm not sure there's anything mysterious here in term of overall population on the market

If one checks somewhere with a higher population of fresh flips (i.e., Moda) there will obviously be a bias towards the current model vs one that has been discontinued for more a year.

I find the 15550’s seconds hand and skeletonised rotor presents a more modern look, while the 450’s is more classic/traditional.

From pictures, however, I am really not a fan of how the Vaucher movement looks in the 550.
For a supposed HH movement, I find even GS’ 9SA5 movement looks better.

To me, it seems like it’s the other way around.

Well, you mentioned the skeletonised rotor of the 15550... I like that you can actually see much more of the movement compared to the older reference. I also love the very definite steps between the crown setting positions of the new movement: feels very "rifle bolt" precise, the smooth crown winding action of the new reference. And I've not had the watch on a Timegrapher (...I really ought to buy one, but my garage is already full of assorted bits of electronics that only occasionally get used) but my 15550 has been running very, very accurately on the wrist. I've not noticed any appreciable time deviation and in that respect reminds me of my spring drive Grand Seiko. Basically I love the watch and I am also very impressed with the Vaucher movement.

Oh and I agree with you that the 9SA5 is a peach both to look at and in terms of design, manufacturing technology and performance. Unfortunately I find all of the watch cases with 9SA5 inside to be a bit bulky and inelegant to my tastes. To me the watch that at a similar price point hits things out of the park with a home run is Moser's HMC 200 in the Streamliner. And if you look at the chronograph and perpetual, their movements only get more jaw dropping gorgeous.

FYI, the 15550st movement is not in house. I struggle to comprehend paying so much money for a watch with an outsourced movement.

I tried on the 15450 before COVID , it instantly felt too small.
I tried on the 15550 last week….. I was surprised by how much I liked the size / color.

I’m not sure if it’s the redesign, a different dial color or my changing taste but the 15550 felt perfect on my 7 inch wrist.

Three different perspectives

Because it keeps better time, is more reliable and robust to reasonably active lifestyles than the old fashioned in-house movement. Just do a forum search here to see complaints of people with the 15450ST / cal. 3120 with major time keeping drift.

Vaucher (basically Parmigiani) is in a different league to Sellita. And they even produce movements for manufacturers like Richard Mille.

I own both, the 15550 runs like a charm. Almost no deviation. Great watch to wear.

So at the end of the day does the 15550 wear smaller than the 15450? I have very small wrists and I am back and forth between these two.

I do not think so, they must have enlarged the dial or something, but to me feels like 15550 wears a tad larger on the wrist, although the bracelet is a tad tapered on the newer model. I think the 15550 is the way to go, but you will not know for yourself until you try each on. If AD has the 15550 to buy, you are likely better off as well.

Not much help here, but just to say as an owner of a 15450, the 37mm size is amazing on medium to small wrists. Unless you’re large imo it’s the way to go.

For what it’s worth. The 15450 is probably my joint favourite watch I own. I’m amazed it’s not more popular on these forums.

I really like the 14790 I picked up a couple of months ago on my 16 cm wrist. It's a F serial, so probably manufactured in 2005. JLC movement, still keeps time within COSC spec.
