I prefer the 18038 for the thicker lugs and thicker case but the 18238 has the advantage of better movement. Can’t go wrong with any 5 digit Day Date in my opinion.

I think the best is the 228236 with either iceblue or meteorite dail.

Is the DayDate ref.18238 the best DD?

Agreed - and one of the main reasons why it had to be sticks on the champagne dial, for me.

When I think of a DD, the 18238 is the first reference that comes to mind.

But a champagne on yellow gold is just too much, not my type of tea.

And I personally think DD looks better with Romans, rather the sticks.
I agree but I hate the deconstructed romans I think they look anorexic and ruin the aesthetic

The 18238 is a classic but I sold mine and don't regret it. I am looking to upgrade one day to the 40 and the one pictured here with the silver roman dials and yellow gold look incredible!!

Although, I do quite enjoy the 18038 with a bark finish and linen dial... wow!!!

Bark finish is spectacular with the linen dial, agreed.

One I've questioned trading my current 18238 for or adding another is the one and only TRIDOR..........

While the DD is a great watch, I don't want a day complication. If I don't know what day it is, I am ready for the Alzheimer's unit and don't need a precious metal watch for some employee to steal.
