Vintage ladies cocktail (please help - family heirloom)

Hello all,

My grandma wore a Rolex cocktail watch on special occasions. She died last year and I now have the watch. Though my wife doesn’t like it, she’s kind enough to wear it once in a while (like today, the unveiling of my grandma’s headstone). It will ultimately go to my daughter once she’s older. She loves it.

Anyway, I’m unsure how women wore fashion?cocktail watches back in the 60s. The way fits loosely on my wife’s wrist, more like a tennis bracelet or something. It does not stay near the wrist bone, but instead, falls down to the hand. Is this the correct way to wear it? I don’t have super strong memories of how it fit on my grandma.

It does not look like links can be removed. I will be sending it to a vintage Rolex servicer and will find out more.

Anyway, I’d LOVE advice on fit and any info about the watch, if you have it. This is a super meaningful item to me. My grandma was essentially my mom and I miss her tremendously.

I’m attaching pictures.

Thanks

.

Welcome to the forum!

Can't comment much on the watch but there is value there with the Gold bracelet and diamonds.

A very similar watch was sold here, so you can continue with your research:

Excellent heirloom.

Bob’s watche# had a listing too about 18 months ago. You can see it in this article:

$7k. I guess bobs watch might be able to give you some info?

Could you post a photo of the backside of the watch and bracelet?
It might help get more input on ideas for fitment by adjusting the bracelet. It could also provide input on the watch if you take another shot to zoom in on the watch back.

Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Cleopatra in 1962, wearing a Bulgari Serpenti might give you a clue. It's above the wrist bone.

My thought would be using a 4" complementary extension fashioned to stylishly wrap around the wrist twice...maybe a long silk corded wristlet fashioned to accessorize and attach to each end of the clasp.
