Pam 1087

I see there’s a new base model with white dial. It’s a very wearable 44mm, and a nice clean dial. I have mixed feelings about the logo, but I think that’s nitpicking and a bit unfair.
Curious to read what others think of this release.

Nice dial and size. For me, the logo isn’t an issue, as the 000 had the same.

Too bad about the 100m water resistance and what looks to be a snap-on back. If Panerai had used the classic set up of 300m and screwed back, it would have had a winner, IMO.

The dial is nice, not sure about the 100m.

I really think at this price point I can overlook the 100m wr. To be fair though I am biased. I love this model. lol

Does this model have a sandwich dial? I like the white dial, but don't like some of the cost cutting that Panerai has been doing lately.

For me the logo is a plus. Without any other other writings on the bottom half of the dial it reminds me of the pre vendome models.

They look cheap, almost like knock offs. Pass!

Tambour street diver or pam1087

Hi, I’m new here. :-)

I plan to add another watch to my collection. At the moment, I am deliberating between the Louis Vuitton tambour street diver and this pam1087.

What I liked about the tambour street diver:
1. Open case back
2. Small seconds indicator
3. 44mm size
4. Design

What I don’t like about tambour street diver:
1. Price. It costs $2,600 Singapore dollars more than the Panerai.

What I like about the pam1087:
1. Price
2. 44mm size
3. True watch brand. Not a fashion brand.

What I don’t like about pam1087:
1. No seconds indicator
2. No open case back. Can’t admire the movement!
3. Missing minute markings.

What I like about both watches:
1. No date.
2. Rubber strap
3. Pin buckle.

Anyone care to share their thoughts? I already have a Louis vuitton watch while I have never had a Panerai.

It is a modern Panerai that has its roots in the past.
The white dial is a rarity for Panerai.
I would recommend it. With 100 meters of water resistance, you can do whatever you want.
I own the PAM 111 which has the same case but black dial.
With a white dial, I have a 1950 Luminor Marina case.

At some point, if i can buy one used for 2.5k, this would fill my white dial Panerai itch

Does anyone know if the 1087 has an integrated bezel? If so, that’s a huge issue that is often over looked. An integrated bezel means there is no way to replace the bezel independently of the case. So if the bezel gets damaged, you are stuck replacing the entire case (and paying for an entirely new case).

An integrated bezel and a snap on case back are both huge deal breakers for me. The new Panerai will never rival the old. The new Panerai is inferior in nearly every material respect.

I picked one up a couple of months ago. Yes, it does have a sandwich dial. I was surprised as the base models typically don't have this, and there is no info online about it.

It's also worth noting that the white dial is much creamier in real life than in the pics. Next to a Luna Rossa white dial, the difference is stark.

Does the dial have a granular texture to it? Looks that way in the online photos.

It does have a slight grain to it, kind of like paper. I find the grain becomes more visible in diffuse light, less so in direct sun.
