To me, buying a watch is like buying a holiday, or buying an expensive meal - i.e. it's a sunk cost, paying for something I enjoy. You never get any "resale value" from a nice meal or a holiday, and that's exactly the same as my feelings when it comes to watches. I buy what I can afford, and I GENUINELY couldn't care less about resale values.

I think these kind of discussions really highlight those who came to watches via Rolex and have remained with Rolex, and those of us who have come to watches via many different brands. Those of us who started out buying different brands quickly realised that as soon as the till receipt is rung up you've lost money: "resale value" just isn't a consideration/concern.

But obviously I appreciate that everyone is different with their own motivations.

Oh and to the OP's original question/post, I personally think the Celebration dial is hideous and not something I'd wear even if I was gifted one. But again, each to their own.

Yeah apparently turquoise became a thing. Now they just have butterfly motifs. I think I have someone who can source it, I need some chain added to it, will need to look at how much they added to my onyx.
