Took in to Rolex today.
They said that Daytonas can sometimes be noisy. But admitted mine was a little noisier than they would expect. They didn’t seem overly concerned at first, but when I mentioned that the dealer when I returned it to them, tried to remedy it with a “thicker oil’ Rolex said that alone raises “alarm bells” as there is no such thing as a “thicker oil” and Rolex only use one oil. They said a pin heads worth of oil would last 10 years in that watch. So on that basis they have recommended that I get it serviced to get it opened up and inspected. |

I have returned the watch once , they said opened it up and put a “thicker oil” inside and sent me a video of it totally silent upon shaking it. But by the time I received it two days later, it was rattling again. |

thanks for the explanation, I agree the thicker oil statement raises a few red flags, its not a car engine where you pour oil in. Parts have to be disassembled cleaned and then lubricated. I agree with another poster of having RSC inspect the watch... Good luck

Some say there are heartless grey dealers who'll drain the oil-sump of a Rolex, re-fill it with thick oil, and sell it to the unsuspecting public while at the same time putting that sweet, original Rolex oil on eBay for a tasty profit.

Just noticed when I shake my wrist with the 116519 that is about 20 years old it does make a bit of noise that could be described as a rattle. Runs great, keeps excellent time.
