Possible watch change advice
Hi all,
After owning the black sub date 41mm for a while, I decided to trade it towards a BLNR jubilee - just felt something a little more special with the blue colour pop and jubilee bracelet and not as common as a regular sub date. However I have now had some further thoughts and wondered on the following: The BLNR is month and year of one of my children’s birth, would you add another watch for my other child’s birth year? For example a 2 tone bluesy, only issue with this is can I guarantee I will keep the watch?! With the above thought of 2 tone bluesy, the clasp on 41mm is quite large and 40mm wears nicer, but white text is nice on the 41mm! I could add a 40mm bluesy? Or trade BLNR and for roughly same money as adding a 2 tone bluesy I could have a full gold 40mm bluesy? Change to a 40mm black sub date which was probably steel sub perfection and add a bluesy/ keep BLNR as the 2nd piece but then fairly similar black dial etc Trade BLNR and cash to a panda 116 ref Keep BLNR as my “special” watch and just daily the Apple Watch Any other thoughts welcome! I do really like the BLNR compared to black sub, do miss the glidelock for perfect fit is only thing but for a 10/11k watch grey value just felt the sub didn’t feel special enough |

Here’s my thought, never change one watch for another, only add watches if you can. In my experience the same watch can be experienced in different ways in the context of other watches. Lots of stories of regret here for selling or trading an early watch in a collection. You can always sell watches later if you have to. Acquire watches if you can, don’t leapfrog.

Too many permutations for me.The BLNR is a really nice watch so I get that as for any others as mentioned try and add to the collection instead of switching out

BLNR is only just behind VTNR for me, in the GMT range, colour of the blue is spot on ..
I’d try to add 116500 if you can, or put name down for 126500 and wait ..

Favourite is VTNR - it’s a bit bonkers, looks so good on, talking point when wearing it, and GMT which is important to me work wise ..

Classic … summer time …
Daytona is current flavour of the month as its new, love Daytona, not because of hype but history, tradition, chronograph, ease of use no need to worry about date function …

In the long term, 10+ years Rolex's never really loose value due to ever increasing RRP prices.......yes of course you loose investment gains in any money tied up in a watch compared to stocks, bonds, real estate etc |

The default answer is add. That said, of the watches listed I would do a BLNR and a Bluesy and walk away high fiving myself. That’s a killer pair.

At some point you have to stop! No one can wear over 100 watches. Perhaps I should have said it has been my MO. Because It has been my habit, I simply have too many.

They complement each other well. And while they may look similar on the surface, do wear very differently, and sometimes you don't always want that pop of colour and the PCL's can be a bit blingy for some. I will add though, that for a good 5 years the BLNR was my only watch, due to financial reasons. But I wore that thing every single day, and loved every minute. Nevertheless, I always regretted selling the Sub, the yearning never left. |

Respectfully I think you are overthinking this.
The BLNR is a great watch. Wear it, Enjoy. Your kids will see you wear it. In time; get another watch, different completely maybe. Wear that too whatever it may be as long as it’s a watch you love. Can be totally different like a dress watch. When the time comes, if your kids show interest gift it to them and let the watches live on. If not so be it at least you had a couple of watches you loved wearing. I have my dad’s Rolex but I would trade everything for him to still be here. |

as someone has said you are thinking way too much. If you want one special watch I would say trade up to daytona 116. If you want to build a collection then keep the watch and add as and when you can.
