Help Identifying Vintage OP
Hi,
I may be coming into possession of what appears to be a solid gold vintage Oyster Perpetual. I’m assuming the band isn’t original, but can anyone help identify the model? Model? Approximate Year of production? Original Band? Can that crystal be replaced with a servicing by Rolex? Would you recommend using a watchmaker and not Rolex for this? Approximate Value of such a watch? Thank you. |

Could be a 6285 (most likely) or 6565
Kind of need to see the back. Early to mid 50s Refinished dial. Rolex won't work on it. |

Most any competent watchmaker can replace the crystal for you.
Why would you not want the watch to be cleaned and oiled ?

Am I correct that this is not the original bracelet? |

I never said that. I would like the watch serviced and cleaned, just curious as to whether a watchmaker or Rolex themselves would be the preferred route. Thanks!

Rolex wont work on it because its too old. If parts are needed, available parts for that watch were discontinued from inventory decades ago and are long gone.
An independent watch maker who specializes in Rolex will be your best bet for service. The dial has been repainted, probably 30-40 years ago or longer. A Rolex watch was always known as a tool watch so instead of spending the money on a new dial, owners would just have their dials repainted if there was ever a visual issue with it. Yes, the bracelet looks aftermarket.
