Its impossible for any screw to unscrew by itself so it must be either movement friction like rubbing against clothes or skin. Some wear watches to lose and below the wrist bone where crown rubs against the skin.

Don't wear the watch for an extended period of time to make sure that it's not you who is unscrewing it without notice.

Ya that's weird. If you know it's screwed down "tight" then somethings wrong. Crown tube, O ring...? I've had it happen on different watches but in my case l know it was human error.

I have the same problem with my Submariner so a battery with a lower voltage solved my problem.

You are not crazy, I've owned this model twice and noticed on both of them that the crown friction is nothing like that of screwing down a sub. That being said I agree with Peter that this is not happening on it's own. I think this particular model for what ever reason unscrews far easier than the Sub crown and tube.

my oysterquartz has done this a few times and b4 and after ive had it overhauled... it does feel paranormal u look its fine u look and its undone seemngly in a moment, i check it and look at it constantly. feels so weird but the only thing that makes sense is tucking in my shirt or pockets its the only thing it could be becsaue i make sure its tight due to this happening b4 and since wearing dress shirts at work it just happened today. if there was something wrong with it rolex would have said something when they put the brand new crown and gaskets on and in.

Not possible unless like had been said you are unscrewing it with some type of friction. Or the threads are partly stripped and that is why it's not holding. Weird for sure.

What do you do for a living?
I have seen the tightest bolts getting loose from vibrations. That, or gasket rubber has been deformed inside and acts like a spring.

And one more thing about how tight is tight. Each of us have different understanding of that feeling, and no torque-wrench is needed. Just ask the AD specialist to tight it for you one and remember the crowns position, or take a picture where is it positioned.
Out.

I experienced this with my Oris Propilot. I was hopping in the shower and I always check the crown before getting wet, to my supersize it was open! I still check to this day but not have not yet experienced that again

Crown unscrewing by itself

Why has this originally 10 year old thread been resurrected yet again?

Perhaps more friction on the crown from clothes due to the lack of crown guards?
