IF you are exchanging dial in the same range it is free and rolex keep it providing it is within the first few months. If it is an older watch they will want you to service it.. If however you are paying for completely new dial, you can keep the dial. I done this on my WG daytona and kept the original dial. Rolex had the cheek to keep the red hands, there justification was that I had to pay a £150 for red hands to get them back. So off course I then paid for red hands.
