I went on a hike yesterday and saw this (an optical phenomenon called a "glory"):

I witnessed this while hiking Haiku Stairs on Oahu. We were taking a rest on the first platform (around 1500ft) which rests directly on a Mountain ridge, with steep cliffs on both sides. At the time, we were just below the cloud level, however the valley to the west and below us was covered in mist and clouds. You can see a faint outline of the H-3 freeway on the right side of the OP picture. For a few minutes, the sun broke through the clouds to the east of us and shone directly into the valley to the west of us. The position of the sun to the valley and our angle of view directly in the middle gave us the opportunity to witness this really cool, extremely rare optical phenomenon. This wikipedia link goes into greater detail. It felt like being in a ray of sun light, a truly awesome experience. The shadow in the center of the rainbow was my old cross-country coach taking the picture.

Here's what the same valley looks like 99.99999999% of the time:
