You want then bigger, just give them an implant. It's called jumboisation.

It'll be sold to breakers for scrap before it's ten years old.

It's not the size of the vessel, it's what you can do with it
Color me reminiscing about way back when Wonder of the Sea was the biggest. (Sigh) Those were the days. Royal Caribbean has two older ships, one stretched, Grandure and the Enchantment, been on both and the added length was welcome on this 'smaller' ship. Oasis Class is a whoooole 'nuther experience than the 'small' ships imho.

This size is rather depressing.

I don't think I'd ever go on a floating city of 10,000 people like the photos above, but the video in the link posted by the OP is pretty cool and makes a lot of sense (or cents). Taking older vessels and retrofitting them with more modern and efficient engines, better amenities and increasing capacity at a fraction of the price of a new ship and the environmental waste of scrapping an entire ship is a win-win.

A friend of mine is going on the Icon of the Seas in October. Too big for me, wouldn't go on anything over 3,000. 500 is even better.

I would guess they can cut and reweld to remove the extra section after the next recession.

Yeah, I think the sections just snap together. Stick a little Flex Seal on them and you're good to go.

Of course I am thinking about breast implants. What else could there be? And no, bigger is not better.

I once “cruised” on the US Coast Guard cutter Blackthorn.

That. Don't understand the appeal of a holiday on a floating shopping centre.
