1675 GMT original price in 1976
Would someone be able to tell me the "official" price of a SS 1675 with an Oyster bracelet from the 1976 catalog?

Yeah, it's awesome to see prices from the good old days, but...
I can tell you, as a High School senior on that date, $450 might as well have been $45,000. |

The reason I asked was that I own one. Here's my story. When I got engaged in 1975 my wife asked me what I wanted for her wedding gift to me. I told her a red/blue Rolex GMT. Early in 1975 we went to the Pittsfield Building on Wabash Street in downtown Chicago to pick out my fiancé's diamond engagement ring. This was the "diamond" building with dozens of jewelers. After we picked it out the salesman asked us if there was anything else we might be interested in. We said the watch. One week later he had one. It was roughly $580 which was a lot of money for my wife. At that time I was very ignorant regarding the Rolex AD thing. I assumed you could just buy one at any high end jewelry store. Sutter's was in the same building. I took it to him a few weeks later to get the timing adjusted. He had a scowl on his face because I didn't buy it from an AD but he did it for free. Never had it touched until 1988 when Sutter did an overhaul. I still have it. My wife passed away recently and I wear the watch daily.

I can tell you I paid $240 in the Abrams Kaserne PX in 1974 but that probably doesn’t help.
