just bought an oyster perpetual 116034 - did i get a good deal?

Hey...just bought my first rolex!!! =) oyster perpetual 116034, black roman numeral diamond dail with fluted bezel. I got it brand new from an authorized dealer. The watch retails for $7000 US and i got it for $5030 ($5435 taxes in). I think I did pretty well negotiating the price...but how good a deal is this considering other people who've been buying them lately?

Thanks!!

I'm considering the 116000, blue or silver face, arabic 3/6/9, luminescent indexes, as a stealth Rolex.

That's an underlooked model.

Your discount was pretty good. There are a few ADs that will discount select models if they are not moving very well.

stainless steel bracelet ...i want to use my watch daily, and i noticed even the display models with 2 tone bracelets had hairline scratches in it.

I thought list price on a 116034 SS/18K bezel was around $5,500?

Congrats on the watch

Why is this so bad to do? I know I didn't get ripped off, but I was curious to know based on the market these days if this was a smoking deal....Plus it doesn't hurt to let other people ready to buy about the deals available so someone doesn't overspend. :)

In any case, I'm really happy about my 1st rolex purchase...:) The watch is being shipped to the AD from rolex and will take a few days to arrive....i'll post pics asap! :)

It's not really a bad thing to do per se, but since you've already gone ahead and purchased the watch, what difference does it really make? For example, if the general consensus was "no, you didn't get a good deal", then what exactly can you do about it - you've already bought it? While not exactly the same, it's not unlike people who buy a watch and then ask "is it real?" These questions really should be asked before you hand your cash over. Of course, if you're merely trying to alert others to a good deal, then great, but that's not quite how your original post reads.
