Gold Rolex Datejust, help identify please?
This watch showed up in a box of family jewelry. It's possible that it was given by my mom to my dad in 1971, who unfortunately passed away a year later. My mom, now in her 90s, can't remember.
Is it a 1601 model? I apologize for the single picture, as I don't have access to the watch. Is this a jubilee wristband? I can't seem to find a single model that has the "thick" 6 and 9 markers. Any help welcome. Cheers, -zt |

We will need much better photos to authenticate it.

You'll obviously need to have better photos to get better opinions, but from what I can see it appears to be a 1601 on a Jubilee bracelet, but whether it is genuine or a replica is impossible to tell.
It has the look of a 14ct gold model but you'll need to look at the hallmarks on the case and bracelet or the stamps/engravings in the case back to be sure. The dial is a little unusual but there were some 1601 watches with these thicker 6 and 9 marker dials made around the early 1970s. Here's a link to a 1970 1601 bi-metallic watch with a similar dial: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1409249...e-14k-gold-and |

Rolex 16018. Looks genuine to me. A rare reference.

It appears to be a 4-digit reference at first glance.

I think those are called doorstop markers.

They don’t look like doorstop markers to me, but the photo is obviously poor.

Indeed you’re right. Fat-fingered this one. 1601/8, pardon me.
