Speedy Pro black dial/sapphire

So while stumbling around Morocco on vacation picked up the Speedy Pro Black dial...

Already have the white dial that I picked up in Hong Kong earlier this year and if im being honest that watch has had very little wrist time.....while I can understand the admiration for the white dial, I think for me personally got a little sucked into the hype as I actually prefered the contrast of the black dial with the white hands/markers and the depth in the dial that provides....white dial has come of a bit 'sterile' for me....

Anyways, was looking for an opportunity to pick up the black dial and the 22% discount plus 13% VAT refund in Morocco sealed the deal....couldn't be happier...

Probably pass on the white dial to my father or try it on the black leather strap to see if that changes my mind...

I'm actually in Marrakesh now, however purchased the watch in Casablanca from a multi brand store called Mystere Montre....they have a number of stores in Casablanca and I believe one in Marrakesh.....as the store in Marrakesh is a 10 minute walk from my hotel I may pay it a visit if time permits.....

As for the VAT refund, just make sure the store is part of the Global Blue network and bring your passport, they print out the forms in the store and you fill a few fields in the form....my understanding is at the airport you present the forms and the goods and the VAT refund of 13% goes back on your card in a couple of weeks.....

To give you some idea of price, I will have paid around £5200 after I receive the VAT refund...Definitely haggle for minimum 20% discount....

20%! Wow! I know one has to haggle in Morocco or risk offending the seller, but that's quite a good discount.

Nice pick up. As good as the white one is, I don't think it beats the classic.

I think your photo of your new watch is lovely and I hope you enjoy it.

I'm sure lots will disagree with this, but having tried the white version on, I suspect that you are certainly not the only person who may have got a bit sucked into the hype about it. I'm also curious to see how many of the new FOIS models get moved on quickly after the novelty has worn off that as well.

Congrats. I'm still in the white camp but could totally see anyone happy owning either or even both.

Just left Casablanca, only person claiming any tax refund, small room waited 10 minutes for a customs officer who inspected the goods and stamped the form....then posted the form in a near by yellow post box....whole process seemed slightly random, like it was not a common occurrence....officer said would take about 5 days to see the refund.....

The Mystere Montre store in Marrakesh does not have Omega watches, however if you know the model you are after they can source it from Casablanca in about 2 days....

Hope this helps....

Don't give up on the white dial yet...I think the white dial looks fantastic on the black rubber. That said, between the two, black dial for me all day. I too think the white dial lacks a little bit of the depth that the black dial has. Love the grain/texture of the black dial.
