Some folk just have an issue because its rubber and not leather, as it used to be both pre and post ceramic bezels.

I'd have PM on Oysterflex all day every day before going grey for SS at the same price.

Yes, the PM bezel is a nightmare to maintain if worn regularly as its design somehow magnifies the impact of any scratches, scuffs etc on the aesthetics when reading the time, to the point you really have to consider it a service item.

I think, if you're going to have two Daytona's in your collection, the steel and the OF makes more sense than two steels - that is, if you are more of a 'diversified' collector as opposed to a 'themed' one. But let's face it, there really are no wrong answers when it comes to a Daytona.

They wear, look, and feel completely different, which is what I'm after. Good luck,

I’ve tried before and was told they would only allow you to do it if you have a PM watch. Do you have an SS and PM model or do I need to ask a new AD?

A few things guiding my decision -

1. I wanted a ceramic bezel. Rolex doesn’t make gold pieces with ceramic bezels (unless it’s the platinum or lemans).

2. OF is super comfortable and makes the watch very wearable in a lot of situations.

3. OF Daytona come in a number of really nice configurations. There’s a version that is for everyone

4. This is less of a reason in the beginning, but as I’ve started to wear gold more I appreciate the heft on my wrist with the balanced OF bracelet. Bonus fact that (as least to my knowledge) there aren’t any fake gold watches out there. They just can’t easily replicate the weight.

Visited my AD this week and was finally able to try on different pieces on oysterflex. From Sky Dweller to yacht master in different combination of metal.

While there was no daytona to be tried on oysterflex, all the other models helped me understand the nature and what the oysterflex is all about. for a wrist my size ( 6.75 ) the OF made the mighty big Sky Dweller disappear on the wrist comfort wise. It was still tall and big but hug around the wrist, balance and weight distribution between top and clasp was perfect.

Ater trying many iterations and wearing some for extended period of time in the store while discussing with my incredible SA, I finally understood. To understand the OF, you need to touch, feel and try it. It is one of the things that has to be experienced to fully grasp the idea of it. For me at least, the issue is that AD very rarely have OF on Display so the possibility to try it on is limited.

Left my AD completely hooked on the white gold 126519 silver dial (ghost ). now the wait is on.
