3940 or….

I’m actively hunting down a 3940j or g. Any other references worth considering that are similar?

Also, any reason NOT to get a third series? I was going to go as “new” as possible.

Its my favorite Patek reference and i consolidated my collection down to a 3940P which is my daily/only watch. Personally my focus was finding a mint example, the differences are so subtle between a 2nd and 3rd series that i never had a preference.

I would also focus on condition. A lot of these were safe queens so an older model may have little or no wear. The movement is very solid so could easily be worn as a daily. There are also the retro grade models like the 5050.

I would love to find a 5050P or 3940P and ‘daily’ it.

Good luck with your search!

Good luck brother, will make a perfect set with your other 2. It’s my absolute favorite piece.

I adore the hobnail bezel on these but something about the super sleek 3940 case and lugs + thinness really gets me

This is 35mm and just as thin as the 3940 (thinner?). The 3940 is a beautiful watch too. Good luck!
