Is it safe to wear a royal oak on Bucharest Romania
Hey All!
Does anyone have experience with wearing a luxury watch in Bucharest Romania? Should I avoid wearing my RO there? |

The violent crime rate for Romania is only 6x as high as for the US.... So I think totally go for it

OP, I am from Romania. It is 100% percent safe to wear any kind of watch in Romania, including AP, Patek, RM, day or night.

If you talk about tourist and nightlife spots it is way safer than most European capitals and tourist cities, but you can still be one of the unlucky in the watch theft stats because pickpocketing and other crimes happens... if you want safe-safe then only Singapore and Arab arm chopping for thefts countries are way to go...

I’m sure OP will agree with my post after he comes here. Nobody cares about your watch in Romania simply because 99.9% of the people here can’t tell the difference between a Seiko and a Submariner and watch theft is really not a thing in Romania. We have one of the safest countries in Europe regarding watch theft, robbery etc. |

I would say, whereever you are. There is a risk of robbery (lower during the day) and there is risk of pickpocket.
Wearing a long sleeve that can stay over your watch even when you sit down reduces your odds dramatically. I would say always have a breathable thin shirt/jacket with you. In general if you are visiting a city not known for being safe, I would not wear a royal oak without a long sleeve as mentioned. Like every city there are safe spots and not so safe spots. Avoid dark alleys, avoid the more run down side of town and avoid the red light districts if you are wearing a royal oak. In the tourist areas, if it gets very crowded you have to watch for pickpockets. This is as much for your wallet/passport as it is for your watch. |

This actual picture* can be seen on a Hungarian online site, I hope it will appear on yours as well:
I'm not sure if the other cities are safe at all, especially considering the missed Barcelona, but I'm sure these highly rated cities do have a lot of crime for sure. It was a interesting for me to see the tweo striped lines across Europe, one from the Baltic states down to Gerogia, and the other from Irelend down to Greece. * fun fact: it was posted today! |

If you have to ask, the answer is probably a "no". Even if there wasn't anything to worry about, you sound like the type that might worry yourself sick about it if you took it with you. Save yourself the worry and enjoy your travels.
