The previous unique CO in the same colour configuration was auctioned for S$1.48m. This one is S$4m so it is a fair bit higher. Between this and the 5711 I would of course choose the RQ.

I doubt they are ruby or enamel.. the only info i can find is "burgundy and ruthenium-plated guilloché silver dial"

Nope, it would have small gaps if it was a stone dial.

Beautiful dial whatever it is.

yeah this is crazy. I dont understand how this went for half - it definitely should have been the opposite. a UNIQUE RESONANCE is 2x the watch of a unique three hander nautilus.

but part of me is glad I guess because when a brand is too hyped is not a good thing for me

My interpretation is that most FPJ collector is rational and knowledgeable so he/she pays for the real worth. As for Nautilus group...

Let's hope I won't get flamed for this. As a disclaimer, I do have a 5711

I'm not sure where people who think this result was disappointing get their expectations from.

Patek collectors have been fighting each other over one of watches and crazy complications for centuries. That one off Nautilus is probably going to age as well as Paul Newman's Paul Newman.

FPJ is an independent watchmaker that's been around for a relatively short time. The fact that his one off and early watches are already fetching these insane sums is a testament to his horological standing. It is an extraordinary achievement in as of itself without having to compare it to other results.

I think the disappointment stems from knowing how good the unique piece Journe is and the little special details in it. It is the equivalent of being disappointed with Nadal not winning RG each year when he is fit. It is not a criticism of the watch, more of a tinge of sadness that a very special Journe cant out-perform an outgoing 5711 that TS wanted to phase out yet keep coming up with one iteration after another....

Interesting. How do you categorize collectors who buy both Nautilus and Journe?

Guys every single auction the last 5 years there’s been an insanely desirable journe that’s been smoked by a run of the mill modern patek. You could have collected some insane early journe the last few years. I feel that will change at some point.

This watch specifically doesn’t speak to me at all. I think 4M was a strong result for it.
